Laminate flooring, also known as impregnated paper laminated wood flooring, is a new type of floor decoration material made of artificial board substrate. It is processed by molding, lamination and other processes, with a wear-resistant layer on the surface and a balance layer on the back, which is both practical and decorative.

1. Structure and materials
Wear-resistant layer: The surface is covered with aluminum oxide wear-resistant paper, and the thickness is different (such as 46 grams, 38 grams, etc.), which determines the wear resistance. The national standard requires that the wear-resistant revolution of household laminate flooring is ≥6000 revolutions.
Decorative layer: The surface is veneered with wood grain paper, which can imitate a variety of natural wood textures, and the ink printing technology makes the pattern clear and realistic.
Base material layer: Mainly high-density fiberboard (HDF) or medium-density fiberboard (MDF), with high density and strong stability.
Balance layer: The bottom polyester material blocks ground moisture and maintains the stability of the board.
2. Core advantages
Wear-resistant and durable: The surface wear-resistant layer can resist scratches and impacts, and is suitable for high-traffic areas such as living rooms and corridors.
High cost performance: The price is lower than that of solid wood flooring, and the utilization rate of wood is high, which is suitable for families with limited budget.
Easy to install: It adopts a lock-type design, no keel is required, and it is directly laid on the flat ground, shortening the construction period.
Easy to clean and maintain: The smooth surface is not easy to penetrate dirt, and it can be wiped with a damp cloth daily without waxing.
3. Limitations
The foot feels hard: Compared with solid wood flooring, it lacks elasticity and feels stiff when stepped on.
Environmental protection difference: Some low-priced products use a lot of glue, and formaldehyde may exceed the standard. E1-level environmental protection certified products need to be selected.
Difficult to repair: If deep scratches or damage occur, the entire floor needs to be replaced, and local repair is difficult.
4. Applicable scenarios
Family space: living room, bedroom, dining room (avoid humid areas such as bathrooms and toilets).
Commercial places: offices, shops, hotels and other areas that need to be wear-resistant and easy to clean.
Public areas: places with medium and high traffic such as schools and hospital corridors.
5. Maintenance suggestions
Waterproof and moisture-proof: Avoid water stains and wipe off liquids in time; turn on the dehumidification function in humid weather.
Cleaning method:
Use a vacuum cleaner or a semi-dry mop to clean dust daily.
Wipe oil stains, juice, etc. with a neutral detergent; lipstick and ink can be treated with alcohol or acetone.
Protection details:
Place a foot pad at the door to reduce sand wear.
Avoid scratches by hard objects, and move furniture gently.
Prevent direct sunlight or high temperature to delay aging.
Temperature and humidity control: Use a wet cloth to mop the floor to increase humidity in dry seasons to prevent cracking; strengthen ventilation in humid seasons.
6. Purchase tips
Environmental certification: Give priority to products with formaldehyde emission ≤0.12mg/m³ (E1 grade).
Wear resistance level: ≥6000 revolutions for home use and ≥9000 revolutions for commercial use.
Thickness selection: Conventional thickness is 12mm, and the lock design enhances stability.
Laminate flooring has become a practical choice for modern homes with its balanced performance and price. Reasonable use and maintenance can extend its service life to more than 10 years.
