Many people believe that all wooden floors are the same. But the fact is not so. Hardwood flooring comes in various grades, each with its own unique characteristics and color variations.
major
High quality flooring has almost no knots, and visible knots are also very small. The defects in the edge wood and the number of fillers are also very small. When using fillers, the color will complement them rather than a perfect match. The color change in the wood chips is also very small, which will provide the most uniform final result possible.
choice
This type of floor is also known as colorless floor or first-class floor, with little color change and fewer knots. The length of Flat noodles will be slightly shorter than the first floor. Other attributes include minor milling defects, small needle joints or holes, and subtle changes in surface craftsmanship. However, the surface of Flat noodles is usually almost free of other defects, such as stripes, blisters, notches and scratches.
Classic/Character
This wood grade will include a combination of sapwood and heartwood, which means that the color variation range between wood batches will be greater. Compared to selected grades, this grade of wood has larger knots and slightly larger cracks on the growth ring. Slight cracks are also allowed between the growth rings. When using filling products, the color of the filling product will be selected to complement the color of the filling product, just like when using filling products in high-quality boards.
natural
This is also known as Level 2, Grinding Level, or # 1 Ordinary Level. The number and size of knots in this grade are almost unlimited, while the number of sapwood, filler, and heartwood will be more than that of classic grade wood. Other minor defects of this grade include large knots, knots, small cracks, changes in end matching angles, uncoated bevels, minor dents, and small bubbles.
rural
Also known as # 2 Normal or Level 3; Rural flooring is shorter than flooring classified as natural boards. These boards contain a wider variety of defects, such as granular surfaces, deep scratches and dents, lip edges, orange peel like surfaces, and uncoated slopes. These boards are suitable for areas that require a more natural appearance.
public utility
This can be referred to as tavern level or cabin level, and may be composed of mixed wooden products. Allow for more obvious defects, such as larger open joints, missing tongues, machine damage, larger wood cracks, and significant color changes. Although this may be a low-cost hardwood option, it could result in up to 25% waste. The length of the wooden board will be shorter than that of rural grade products.
Although choosing the cheapest wood may be tempting, ultimately making it look beautiful requires more effort and labor. Therefore, it is recommended to spend as much money as possible when purchasing wooden flooring.
